Founders Story

We are Melanie and Denise, a pair of local sisters from Beaver County. Our shared dream has always been to open a retail store together. Our roots run deep in this community, with our families  coming from Beaver, PA. Opening Blackbird Market is our way of being woven into the fabric of this area that means so much to us. We invite you to experience the good vibes, discover unique treats, and share in a piece of our passion.

Good gluten free treats have always been important to Denise. Being a celiac herself, she has raised a family with everyone being gluten free.  Special treats were often hard to find over the years, so she baked herself or travelled for items.

Although the internet and other stores have become better at providing gluten free & dairy free treat options over the last few years, she hoped for a local place where her kids could grab a treat easily like the other kids. 

Blackbird Market will have some of the delicious sweets that she has found over the years as well an ice cream counter where people can have premium ice cream as well as a vegan ice cream option with lots of gluten free mix-ins for the Swirls.

She's also curated a selection of her favorite brands to showcase. With a talent for epoxy art, Melanie creates custom pieces including charcuterie boards and decorative wall art.
